June 2015 The Clearwater SWCD has taken advantage of Clean Water Assistance Grant dollars to begin a no-till drill program to improve water quality and soil health. Increased pasture and hay ground productivity is and additional benefit. Utilizing no-till practices will be a primary focus of this program.

November 2014 - Clearwater SWCD congratulates Paul Rydeen and Marty Cobenais for winning the recent elections to SWCD Districts 3 and 4. Their new terms will begin in January 2015. The district thanks outgoing District 4 Supervisor Leonard Stinar for many years of dedicated service to conservation in Clearwater County and beyond.

October 2014 - Clearwater SWCD welcomes Lori Buell as our new Office Manager! Lori brings a variety of experience in the non-profit sector and we are excited to have her join our conservation team!

August 2014 - Clearwater SWCD is hiring an Office Manager. This position provides accounting and administrative services for the Clearwater Soil and Water Conservation District. Resume, cover letter and a completed Clearwater SWCD employment application are due by 4:30 p.m. on September 5, 2014 to be considered.

July 2014 - Clearwater SWCD will host a FREE water testing clinic at our booth at the Clearwater County Fair. Fairgoers can bring in well water samples to be tested for nitrate on Friday, August 1, 2–6pm, or on Saturday, August 2, 2–6pm. SWCD staff will test the samples for nitrate and results will be available in about 5 minutes. High nitrate levels can cause health risks, especially for infants and pregnant women. June 2014 - The Summer 2014 issue of the Clearwater Conservator is ready! Read about local producer Brian Johnson and the extensive work he has done to protect Bagley Lake. In education news: Bagley fifth and sixth graders earned accolades in the recent "Our Soil - A Layer of Life" poster competition and North Central Junior Envirothon. May 2014 - On Election Day this fall, two positions on the Clearwater SWCD Board of Supervisors will be up for election. The seat for Nomination District Three representing Clover, Dudley, Greenwood, Leon and Sinclair Townships; and the seat for Nomination District Four representing Popple Township and the City of Bagley, will both be on the ballot. Those interested in running for Supervisor should file at the County Auditor’s office between May 20 and June 3, 2014. For additional information, read our complete Press Release.

December 2013 - The annual Tree Sale has begun! We are now accepting orders for 40 different species of native trees and shrubs for arrival in April 2014. Go to the Annual Tree Sale page or call our office for more information.

Clearwater SWCD Board of Supervisors has set a January 2014 meeting date: Thursday, January 16 at 10:00 a.m. at the USDA Service Center in Bagley. At this meeting dates, times, and locations will be set for the remaining 2014 board meetings.

May 2013 - Clearwater SWCD has sold out of trees for 2013 and our late spring rains got these seedlings off to a great start. Thanks to all residents who planted trees and shrubs this year! Trees prevent soil erosion, protect our waterways and clean our air. Planting tree and shrub shelterbelts and buffers along waterbodies provides benefits for generations to come.

December 2012 - January board meeting set. The Clearwater SWCD Board of Supervisors will meet on Thursday, January 17 at 10:00 am at the Bagley USDA Service Center. At this meeting dates and times will be set for the rest of the 2013 meetings.

October 2012 - The Clearwater SWCD Fall Newsletter is now available! Get details about local drought conditions, grazing cover crops, tree care and cost sharing available for conservation projects.

September 2012 - In November Clearwater voters will head to the polls to elect supervisors for the Clearwater SWCD.  Positions on this year’s ballot will include those representing Nomination Districts 1, 2 and 5. For more information click here.

June 2012 - Clearwater SWCD recently won over $40,000 in competitive Clean Water Fund grants from the Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources. These funds boost local efforts to protect county water quality and reduce harmful erosion. Areas of special interest are the Lost River Watershed and Pine Lake. May 2012 - Individuals concerned about water quality and soil erosion in Clearwater County should consider filing by June 5 to run for the position of Supervisor of the Clearwater Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD). Districts 1, 2, and 5 are up for election this year. Click here for more information.

April 2012 - For Sale: Detco 303, 3 point tree planter, with scalper attachment and transport trailer. In excellent condition. Bids will be received by the Clearwater SWCD until April 13 at 4:30pm. Bids may be sent to the Clearwater SWCD, 312 Main Ave N, Suite 3; Bagley, MN 56621. The Clearwater SWCD reserves the right to reject any and all bids.

January 2012 - At the regular meeting of the Clearwater SWCD Board of Supervisors a meeting schedule for 2012 was set. All meeting dates, times, and locations are available by clicking here.

December 2011 - Clearwater SWCD Board of Supervisors has set a January 2012 meeting date: Thursday, January 19 at 10:00 a.m. at the USDA Service Center in Bagley. At this meeting dates, times, and locations will be set for the remaining 2012 board meetings.

November 2011 - We are now accepting orders for spring 2012 trees. We have great new items such as Riverbank Grapes and Black Walnuts among old favorites such as Red/Norway Pines and White Spruce. Go to the Annual Tree Sale page for more information.

October 2011 - Deer season rifle and bow hunting permits for the Clearwater SWCD Conservation Farm and Learning Center are available at our office. Call for details or better yet, just stop by to pick up your hunting permit. There is no cost, but names and addresses for all persons in your hunting party must be submitted.

August 2011 - Clearwater SWCD nitrate testing clinic at the Clearwater County Fair. Bring a 1/2 cup (4 oz) well water sample to the SWCD booth in the commercial exhibit building on Friday, August 5, 1-4pm; or Saturday, August 6, 10-noon, or 3-5pm. These nitrate tests are free and results will be available in about 5 minutes.This project is cosponsored by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture and the Clearwater SWCD. July 2011 - Clearwater SWCD would like to thank former SWCD board supervisor, Paul Imle, for his generous donation of time, labor, and parts to rehab one of the SWCD tree planters. Paul made this contribution in memory of the late SWCD supervisor Bob Bilden. Paul's actions are a fitting tribute to Bob's values and will help to carry forward the SWCD's mission for years to come. Thank you Paul!
